What You’ll Need:
A short, wide bowl or container
Small rocks or pebbles
Potting soil
Spring bulbs: daffodils, grape hyacinth (muscari), orange sunstars
Moss
Optional: cut pussy willow branches for support or decoration
Step-by-Step: How to Make a Spring Bulb Garden
Step 1: Choose a Bowl or Container
Start with a short, wide bowl - this shape works best for layering bulbs and creating a full, garden-like appearance indoors.
Step 2: Add a Layer of Rocks
Place a layer of small rocks or pebbles at the bottom of the bowl. This helps with drainage and keeps your bulbs from sitting in water.
Step 3: Plant Tall Daffodils in the Back
Add tall and colorful daffodil bulbs toward the back of your bowl. These bright spring favorites will add height and draw the eye upward.

Step 4: Layer in Grape Hyacinth (Muscari)
Next, plant grape hyacinth (also called muscari) near the middle or front of your arrangement. These flowers offer a soft, draping effect and come in beautiful shades of purple and white. We're using white in our example, but either will add lovely movement and texture.
Step 5: Add Orange Sunstars
Tuck in a few orange sunstar bulbs for a vibrant pop of color. These cheerful blooms round out your bulb garden with warmth and brightness.

Step 6: Fill in with Potting Soil
Carefully fill in the gaps around your bulbs with potting soil. This will help hold everything in place and provide the nutrients your bulbs need to grow.
Step 7: Top with Moss
Add a layer of moss across the surface of the soil. This finishing touch not only makes your arrangement look polished, but also helps support the stems and retain moisture.

Step 8: Insert Pussy Willow Branches (Optional)
For added height and spring flair, place a few cut pussy willow branches at the back of your bowl. These can also offer extra support for taller blooms like daffodils and muscari as they grow.
